Every WordPress based website uses a theme. A theme is a group of files that say what functions will the website use and how will it look like. For someone who is trying to revamp their website and add some new functionality to it, functions.php is probably the most important file.
In this article, we will show you where to find functions.php file and how to edit it. It is quite an easy task and after you learn it, you will be able to use all our WordPress Tutorials and even Woocommerce Tutorials too.
1. First, log in your WordPress website by typing yourdomain/wp-admin in your browser.
2. In the left menu, find Appearance and select Editor
3. A new site with code editor will open. On the right, you will see a menu containing all your theme files. One of those items is Theme files or functions.php. Click it.
4. Scroll down to the end of the file – that’s where we suggest to insert any code snippets. After adding the new function, click Save.
And that’s it. The new function should work immediately after you save the file.
